Executive Director, Head of Finance – Life Insurance

Our client is a highly respected and growing financial institution with a significant presence across Asia. As part of its continued transformation and strategic alignment across group entities, a newly created opportunity has emerged for an Executive Director, Head of Finance – Life Insurance. This role plays a pivotal part in driving financial execution, transformation, and talent development within the life insurance business, while maintaining strong alignment with the Group CFO and corporate finance leadership.

  • Finance Execution & Strategy: Lead the execution of finance strategies for the life insurance segment, ensuring alignment with group objectives and regulatory frameworks.
  • Transformation & Upskilling: Drive finance transformation initiatives, including automation, systems enhancement, and upskilling of the finance team to meet future demands.
  • Financial Control & Governance: Oversee financial operations, controls, and reporting accuracy across entities, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local regulatory standards.
  • Group Coordination: Act as the key finance liaison between the life insurance segment and group office, ensuring timely, transparent communication and strategic alignment.
  • Talent & Capability Building: Mentor and elevate the finance team’s capabilities, ensuring succession planning and readiness for evolving business needs.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner closely with Actuarial, Risk, Compliance, and Group Finance to support business performance, planning, and reporting.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the insurance sector — preferably life insurance.
  • Deep understanding of insurance financials, regulatory requirements (MAS, RBC2), and industry-specific reporting.
  • Proven track record in driving finance transformation and team capability building.
  • Experience working in a group or regional finance function with strong cross-border coordination.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, or equivalent) is required.
  • Prior experience in both financial reporting and strategic finance is highly desirable.
